Deringer backflow covers

Deringer backflow cover: Deringer assemblies are a smaller slice of the market — but in the territories where they are spec'd, nothing else fits. We maintain Deringer patterns so you are not improvising with a universal bag.

Deringer backflow preventers occupy a niche compared to Watts or Wilkins — but niche does not mean optional if your territory specs them. Deringer 30 and 40 series assemblies, PTS configurations, and DCDA setups appear on specialized commercial and fire protection jobs where the engineer wrote Deringer and nothing else.

When that tag shows up, you need a Deringer cover — not "maybe this Watts fits."

Assembly focus

Deringer patterns span:

  • RP profiles in the 30/40 series — see also our RP assembly page for general RP guidance
  • DCDA assemblies — detector checks on fire service and commercial combined lines
  • PTS and specialty configs — confirm model on tag; photos help when tags are missing

Insulation clearance respects Deringer test port layout and body depth — dimensions that differ from major factory equivalents.

Who stocks Deringer covers

Regional plumbing distribution houses and fire protection distributors with Deringer valve share carry these SKUs at low volume but high importance — the customer who needs one needs it today, not after a three-week custom import.

Backflow testers on industrial routes occasionally batch-order Deringer SKUs for contract clients standardized on the brand.

Low volume, exact fit

Because Deringer orders are lower frequency than Watts 007, counters sometimes skip stocking — then eat a rush custom order every freeze season. Holding one case of the top local model often pays for itself in avoided emergency freight and customer goodwill.

Custom fabrication in 3–5 business days covers unlisted variants.

Niche does not mean optional

In Deringer territory, "we do not stock it" sends the customer to a competitor who does — and they may take the valve PO too. One case of the local Deringer pattern costs less than losing a fire protection account's trust during a cold snap when detector loops cannot wait on freight.

Coordinate with Deringer valve stock

If you already stock Deringer bodies for DCDA jobs, the cover SKU belongs in the same quote template. Fire and commercial reps should not need two vendors for one winterization line item on a detector assembly they sold you in spring.

Low-frequency SKU, high-urgency customer

Deringer cover orders often arrive with "need it tomorrow" energy because nobody else stocks them. Being the yard that does — even at modest volume — locks loyalty on valve and trim packages that pay rent all year.

The Deringer line, page by page

The Deringer 40 RP and Deringer 20 double check each have a fitment page with the spec-sheet envelope by size; the 30 and 50 detector versions share those envelopes and sit in the cover finder. The butterfly-valve versions are compact enough that a custom pattern is often the better cover.

Common questions

Which Deringer model is most common?
Varies heavily by region. Fire and commercial distributors see DCDA configs; general plumbing houses see 30/40 RP-style bodies. Ask your local specifiers.
Can I use a generic DCDA cover?
DCDA silhouettes vary by brand. Use Deringer-specific patterns for Deringer assemblies — see our DCDA page for assembly-type context.
Do you stock Deringer covers year-round?
Top regional patterns are cataloged; low-volume SKUs may be made to order with short lead times. Portal shows availability.
Are Deringer covers insulated the same as Watts covers?
Same Soft Shield insulated construction and manufacturing process — different exterior pattern matched to Deringer dimensions.
